I’m A BBOY – DJ Cam

i'm a bboy - dj cam geek chic djs

I have been “breakdancing” for about 20 years or so. Sure, I have learned other styles and performed in front of millions of people but bboying was my first style I took seriously. So herein lies my favorite breaks and songs to dance/rock to. Not a definitive list by no means but the ones I like the most. Enjoy!

19: Ties & Tini’s Mix

We (GeekChic) throw an event called. Ties & Tini’s, every so often and it’s cool. Bow ties always make you look good and a good martini or cocktail is a perfect compliment. This mix is a nice cocktail of old, new, and rare stuff that I like. Hope you enjoy and it’s geekchic baby =)

14: The Table of Truth Season 2 Soundtrack

Behold, The Table of Truth Season 2 Mixtape! This was a cool collaboration with my podcast partners in crime; Pope created the cover, Duane shot the photo and picked the songs (as part of The Maroon Cafe), and I mixed it all together (GeekChic baby!). Artists include Meek Mill, The Roots, Nas, Adele, Childish Gambino, James Blake, and Theophilus London. So enjoy and tell a friend!

13: Warm Songs 4 Cold Days

I used to work at an indie movie theater/cafe in Downtown San Jose during college. It was an eclectic mix of artists, designers, writers, budding film makers, and musicians. Besides the random films we showed, we were allowed to play whatever CD’s (yea I said CD’s) we wanted. So I would make CD mixes of songs, give them themes, and play them in the cafe. One of the more popular ones were my “Hip-Hop Luv” mixes. Basically, R&B song’s with rappers on it or rap songs talking about women. Either way, they were a good reflection of what I would of listened to in my car, if I had one. That is the inspiration for this latest mix, enjoy, tell a friend, and look for me and the GeekChic [site | twitter] crew rockin’ a party near you sooner than you think.

11: Now Playing – House

When I came to NYC, one of my main goals was to learn how to house dance. I thought I knew when I came here but in about 5 minutes at my first house club I got schooled real quick! That was six years ago and I am still learning new moves and grooves even now. I also got more into the music and the various soulful sounds. Just that soft warm fun feeling of a good track. Since it’s been a minute from my last house mix, enjoy some new tracks, sprinkled with old ones and my current “happy song” by Tycho. It’s GeekChic baby. [Subscribe to the podcast here]

08: House Mix for Class

What it do homies! it’s another edition of the bedroom mixes. This time we got a house mix of a lot of the songs I use for my house dance class on weds (which have been extended for the rest of the month). So, we got some classics, some new stuff, and a nice lil joint  joint at the end of something you’ve heard before but probably not this version. Enjoy and as always, my mixes are recorded live which means theres at least ONE mistake. Keeps it authentic, I think. lol

S/O to DJ Soulos1200 for the banging Hip-Hop mix “Boom Bap Tribute” he threw down recently.

And special S/O to my fellow the Geek Chic Dj’s Tim Grae and DJ Dubz! This is gonna be a fun summer!
