Look: Cam’s Speakeasy Party 12.19.2010

Over the weekend I held a cocktail party at my place in Brooklyn called Cam’s Speakeasy. I, along with my good friend Mike Morris, mixed some tasty drinks for the guests as well as deejayed and hosted. We had a menu, which had to be changed as we ran out of certain liquors but that added to the night! Our most popular drinks were Cam’s Sidecar (Brandy, Cointreau, Fresh Lemon Juice) and Manhattan Mike (Rye Whiskey,Sweet Vermouth, Peychaud’s Bitters). It was a fun time, most of the fellas came in ties or bow ties and the ladies wore dresses.  Shots out to Tim Grae on the 1 and 2s as well!

The Table of Truth was also in attendance including our Black Ops and auxiliary members, lol. Be on the look out for part 2 coming late January. Enjoy the pics!

Look: Serious Cam Photo Shoot

Every once in a while, I try to be serious. It never turns out well. Why? Cause I laugh, a lot. And when I try to be serious I look like a zombie! Which brings us to the “serious cam” photo shoot. It was shot by my good friend, budding photographer, and fellow dancer James “Slim” Dang late on a Sunday night in San Francisco. We bill it as a “test shoot” but some of the mistakes turned out to be pretty good. Or at least I thought so! Enjoy. [Read more...]

Governors Island Jazz Age Lawn Party 07.18.2010

circa 2010

A year ago, the homies and I saw the Satorialist’s pics of the Governors Island Jazz Age Lawn Party and were amazed. So, we made a pact to go this year, full suits, charleston dance, and take pics. Fast forward to day and we did it! It was really dope, fun people, great cocktails, 90% of the people dressed up and had a raging good time. We got a good number of pics taken of us and we loved every minute of it.

It began a really great NYC Sunday filled with a Brooklyn House music outdoor park party, yummy cuban food (yea, i said yummy) and a free comedy show in Williamsburg with Hannibal Burress hosting and featuring Charlene YiJudah Friedlander and my old art Homie, Alex Cole, in the line up as well. Throw in the REALLY dope Aloe Blacc show on Friday night (I was on the 1s and 2s, I’m back son! Thanks TheMaroonCafe & CouchSessions; Kimberly Nicole is the sheit! Live recordings coming soon) and Raphael Saadiq on saturday for good measure.

All in all, I am not complaining. Pope coined the overused term of #bestsummerever on The Table of Truth as a sham but we have ran with it! Photos after the jump! Now on to apartment hunting….

Mortal Kombat Rebirth Trailer

DUDE, this makes me excited for MK all over again! Video game or movie, this is how you do a live action video game. Don’t treat it like a video game and treat it like an interesting story!

R.I.P. Frank Frazetta

A hero of the illustration world past yesterday, Frank Frazetta, at 82. He inspired countless illustrators with his movie posters, sci fi fantasy worlds of strong sexy women, heroic barbarian men, and crazy animals and creatures. Most notably for his book covers of Conan and Tarzan. He was one the first “rockstar” illustrators (along w/ Bernie* Fuchs and Norman Rockwell) us young illustrators looked up to, copied, and admired. Rest in peace, homie.

From his family: (via Peter de Seve’s blog)
Frank Frazetta, one of the most renowned fantasy illustrators of the 20th century whose stunning and energetic images influenced a generation, died this afternoon at a hospital near his home in Boca Grande, Florida. He was 82.

The cause of death was a stroke.

Street Fighter Legacy

Yesterday, My good friend Tim Grae was SHOWING me his latest video instead of TELLING me. I was amped cause he jumped in and started shooting and getting in front of the camera. He was super excited about learning this new medium and getting better w/ each clip.  He’s never done videos before but is learning as he goes and you can see that progress. That bring s me to this short film made by Street Fighter fans who, like the rest of us, know the actual movies suck! (Save the original japanese anime, not the hacked to death edited U.S. version.) The made a short 3 minute independently film. And it looks dope! So the lesson of today is:

“Ain’t nothin’ to it but to do it!”
