Weekly Drawing Meet Up

So my former roomie and fellow illustrator, Phil Mamuyac, started a weekly drawing meet up on weds. Nothing crazy, just artists meeting up to draw and hang out. Other notable artist include Pope Phoenix and Cliff Washington. Fun times and a good group. Sidenote: hands are hard! lol More after the jump! [Read more...]

The Return of the Artist Known as Cam

So once upon a time, i used to draw A LOT. Characters, stories, illustrations, people, landscapes, animals, and super heroes. It was a fun time of learning and imagination utilizing pen, pencil, paper, markers, paints, and even crayons! I miss those days as I get caught up in the world of coding and design. But I am heading back to the Bay for my Shrunken Headman “art school” reunion. So if drinking and laughing w/ full time artists doesn’t get me started, I don’t know what will!

These drawings are from the Dumbo figure drawing session this past saturday in BK. [Read more...]

From the Vaults circa 2007

Since I have recently been on the art grind again i found some old sketches that I actually like! Nothing crazy or anything just doodles I did while I should of been working or listening to Pope Phoenix. Circa 2007 when i was young, broke and hungry!  lol

Art Week: Nekkid People Drawing aka Figure Drawing

A wonderful artist by the name of Marc Scheff started a figure drawing meet up for illustrators in billy burg about a year ago. It is still going strong and now has another meet up in a fresh studio in DUMBO, which I attended. Drawing the human body is fun, challenging, frustrating and highly educational. I remember in school it was like a weekly thing i would tell my non-artists homies I was “nekkid people drawing”. It was funny to them cuz the questions ranged from “Are there hot model chicks?” or “Dude, you gotta draw another dudes schlong?” Either way, as an artist, you have to do figure drawing 1) to sharpen the skills 2) fully appreciate the human form and 3) to hang out w/ other artists and meet new folks. All in all, a good time was had I and will be making more of an effort to attend 1-2 times a month. [more drawing after the jump] [Read more...]
